About Julie
A therapist who understands both the science and the experience.
Julie Carmichael, LICSW, specializes in helping adults move out of obsessive loops and toward a fuller life.

My connection to this work is personal.
I have lived with OCD since childhood. For years, I believed intrusive thoughts meant something terrible about me. Learning that OCD had a name, and that it was treatable, changed how I saw myself.
With the support of a skilled therapist, I learned that thoughts are not facts. I could stop fighting them and change how I related to them. That understanding now informs every conversation I have with clients.
Effective therapy is both scientific and deeply human.
OCD and anxiety ask a great deal of the people living with them. Treatment should be specific, structured and compassionate enough to meet that reality. Our work focuses less on eliminating thoughts and more on responding to them differently.
Julie completed specialty training in OCD treatment through the International OCD Foundation’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute in 2008 and remains active in the IOCDF community.
